Almost all that needs to be said about Georgia is just a list of the huge variety of fish that inhabit its waters. To start with saltwater: sheepshead, flounder, red fish, dolphin, sea trout, sea bass, mackerel, snapper, grouper, marlin, wahoo, tuna, tarpon, cobia, shark, barracuda, and amber jack are caught off the coast. There are several famous ports to fish out of for both inshore and offshore fishing such as Savannah and Tybee Island. Georgia also offers spectacular freshwater fishing in its lakes and rivers. Lake Lanier, Lake Oconee, and others offer unbeatable largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and monster stripers. Then in the mountains, the trout fishing is as good as anywhere on the East Coast and the rivers are as beautiful as can be imagined. |
