Idaho seems to be the forgotten wilderness of the United States and the fish are so big there is seems they have been forgotten about as well. From 6 & 7+ pound smallmouth bass to 20 pound steelhead to the rare 300 pound sturgeon, and don’t forget the 10 pound brook trout; the fish here are just huge. There are gleaming flat-water rivers and crisp, clean mountain streams, there are plains and Rocky Mountains; Idaho seems to have it all. On one trip its possible to catch lots of feisty smallmouth, 20 pound steelhead, and a sturgeon; if you are really lucky, a 300 pound sturgeon. Some of the rivers inhabit the highest densities of rainbow trout in the continental US as well as giant brookies, while the lakes hold 30 pound lake trout. |
