Though Maine is a small state, its fisheries are diverse enough compete with almost any other state. With 3,000 lakes and ponds, 32,000 miles of streams, and inland and offshore saltwater fishing, Maine’s fishing is hard to beat. 100,000 salmon and 1,000,000 trout are stocked into Maine’s streams yearly; all of good catchable size, some salmon are down right huge. Maine has great saltwater fishing for tenacious bluefish, gigantic stripers, and cod almost too big to catch.
