The three S’s (steelhead, salmon, and sturgeon) probably best describe the dramatic fishing of the Pacific Northwest in Oregon. The many rivers of Oregon hold monstrous fish, steelhead as big as small dogs, salmon as big as small children, and some sturgeon larger than grown adults. Walleye and smallmouth bass are also common freshwater species. The saltwater fishing is just as good as the freshwater. Big stripers, ling-cod, snapper, sea bass, very large tuna, salmon, sharks, and absolutely huge halibut are all plentiful in the water off the coast of Oregon. |
