About the Fishing Vessel Sandy B:
The Sandy B was built in 2000. Bent rods and screaming reels are the norm on the Sandy B. She is 42 feet long and 18 feet wide with over 300 square feet of cockpit space. Catering to groups limited to 6 people maximum,we provide TONS OF ELBOW ROOM!!!!
The Sandy B is powered by a 635 HP Electronic Cummins Diesel engine. Her wheelhouse is literally crammed with modern state of the art electronics.
Whether your pleasure is fishing for stripedbass, cod fish and haddock, or giant Atlantic bluefin tuna, your charter hosts will consistently put you on the bite, and KEEP YOU ON THE BITE. We find fish and we stay on fish.

Cod and Haddock Fishing Charters
Cod fish and Haddock charters andrun year round from our docks in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Ground fishing for cod and haddock out of the Cape Ann area is a New England fishing tradition and way of life. While ground fishing for Cod fish and Haddock out of Gloucester is a centuries oldtradition, we like to bring modern technology into play. We use our powerful sonar and fish finder to locate large schools of fish, and track their location throughout the day. If Chef Pauly is your mate for the day he can fillet and prepare fresh caughtcod or haddock for your lunch time dining pleasure if you wish. Who says you have to totally rough it on a fishing trip? We love to fish hard, eat well and be comfortable too.
Giant Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Chartersaboard the Sandy B:
Giant bluefin tuna charters run from the third week of June through mid-October from our docks in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The Cape Ann - Gloucester area is know the world over for the massive schools of giant bluefin tunathat migrate here. The Japanese prize our tuna - known as “Boston Bluefin tuna” as the finest sushi tuna found anywhere.
Captain Bluefin and the crew aboard the Sandy B are true fishing fanatics. We love to fish for cod fish, haddock and striped bass. While we love to fish for cod, haddock and striped bass, there is something extra special about a giant bluefin tuna charter. The anticipation starts to build the night before the charter, and keeps on building.
Tuna season opens the beginning of June. Tuna will begin to bite while trolling starting the end of June. This time of year is the time to troll for giant bluefin tuna. Trolling for giant bluefin tuna is an art not easily learned. Capt. Bluefin has spent many years mastering thetechniques and attention to detail required to successfully troll up a giant tuna.
Some years the troll bite lasts the entire season. Other years by July fourth the tuna have “settled in” and are more likely to bite while anchored up chumming. Aboard the Sandy B the goal is to catch fish. If the fish are biting while anchored up chumming, that’s where you will find us. We are equally at home anchored up chumming or trolling. We do what it takes to HOOK UP on the Sandy B.
Striped bass fishing charters aboard the Sandy B:
Striped bass (striper) charters run from mid-May through mid-September from our docks in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The Cape Ann - Gloucester area is a super place to troll, cast or chum for striped bass. Stripers can be found nestled up against the rocky Cape Ann shoreline, near the myriad islands dotting the inshore fishing grounds or offshore.
The season for striped bass fishing aboard the Sandy B begins sometime towards the middle or end of May. Wewilltroll off-shore in the Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary atthis time. Fishing for striped bass on Stellwagen bank this time of year is extremely productive, and the fish tend to be VERY LARGE. Fishing for stripers on Stellwagen is strictly catch and release as no fish may be taken from this area.
By the second or third week of June large schools of bluefish show up on the bank, and both striped bass and bluefish are readily caught at this time. That is where we will take our charter parties.Very exciting and tons of fun!!
The bluefish tend to take over Stellwagen shortly after they arrive. They will eat striped bass, and the stripers leave Stellwagen Bank and head for inshore areas. A short time later, giant bluefin tuna show up onthe bank. Tuna love to eat bluefish, and the bluefish in turn leave the bank and migrate to inshore areas. By the beginning of July, you will find us taking striper charters inshore just a couple of miles from Gloucester.
