When West Virginia is mentioned, most people immediate begin to think about flyfishing for those wild mountain trout. And while, the trout fishing really is great, the smallmouth bass fishing is much better. I have been told catching 50 smallmouth in aday is a good day fishing, but catching 100 is a great day. And West Virginia has some of the most spectacular scenery in the nation, set high in the Appalachian Mountains. Its possible to hike way into the backcountry to search for that wild, illusivetrout or drift down a river pulling in too many smallmouth to count. But make sure not to miss the walleye, pike and rock bass, that also roam West Virginia’s waters. |
